The Toronto Star has published an amazing news article on the summer program being operated at Thomson Collegiate, and how that program is responding to the challenge of the tragic shooting and murder of a Thomson student earlier this year.

The plan had always been to run regular secondary summer school at David and Mary Thomson Collegiate Institute. But the fatal shooting of a student in the hallway earlier this year sparked discussions amongst school board staff about how to help a traumatized community heal.
Out of those talks came the idea to create a learning hub for kids in grades 4 to 12, combining elementary and secondary students under one roof at the Scarborough school in what’s believed to be a first for Toronto’s public board…
